Your Role at Baxter
This position reports directly to the Head of Government Affairs & Market Development, EMEA, and will oversee and direct the company's government relations, market development, and public policy initiatives for the DACH region (Germany, Austria, Switzerland). This role will engage in the company's commercial development, educational program initiatives, and regulatory strategies across Baxter's Kidney Care operations in the DACH region.
Key Responsibilities
Provide strategic advice and counsel to company executives on public policy and governmental issues, including current legislation/regulations and policy initiatives and their potential impacts on the organization. Collaborate with company executives and the regional business unit leader to formulate the company's government relations and public policy strategy and agenda in the region, prioritizing actions and resource allocation. Design public affairs strategies to facilitate market development and enhance patient access. Oversee project management and the practical implementation of public affairs initiatives. Cultivate and manage relationships with patient advocacy groups and other relevant stakeholders. Actively participate in trade organizations, non-governmental organizations, and strategic industry groups that the Kidney Care segment is affiliated with to influence legislation, regulations, and public policy that impact the industry and advance the company's objectives. Establish and nurture strong external relationships with key government officials, Members of Parliament, their staff, and administrative agency personnel on critical issues such as expanding access to kidney care in the region. Support government business transactions with Ministries of Health, Finance, and other pertinent government agencies. Develop thought leadership and influence commercial strategies. Collaborate with universities, government entities, and key opinion leaders in the region to create educational programs and symposia aimed at promoting the adoption of best clinical practices. Manage and balance external and internal resources effectively.Qualifications
We are looking for candidates with 8-15 years of experience in governmental or non-governmental organizations and/or trade or industry associations, as well as experience in the private sector, including:
Proven ability to establish and maintain strong external relationships with key decision-makers in health and business sectors. Knowledge and capability to effectively influence the political/policy landscape, including working with and managing consultants. Experience in public policy formulation and public affairs processes. Proficiency in utilizing the public affairs toolkit. Experience in building partnerships with trade associations and other industry stakeholders to advance agendas. Skills in developing and implementing business development, government relations, and external affairs policies. Demonstrated ability to analyze key regulatory and policy issues concerning the company's strategic objectives and to focus on those that enhance (or could potentially hinder) the company's competitive interests. Ability to comprehend and influence the digital maturity of the governments and other entities they engage with. Proven track record of effective collaboration with internal business stakeholders. A history of achievement and success. Highly organized, self-motivated, and comfortable working within a geographically dispersed team.
