About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Environmental Health Specialist to join our team at Amazon Deutschland Transport GmbH - B78. As a key member of our Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) team, you will play a crucial role in driving improvements in our operations and ensuring a safe and healthy work environment for our employees.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage health and safety programs, collaborating with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to identify and mitigate risks.
  • Analyze data reports and root causes to provide leadership with the information needed to make informed safety-related decisions.
  • Provide guidance and support for health and safety projects and policies, ensuring compliance with local legislation and Amazon's policies.
  • Drive initiatives to improve technical equipment specifications and designs within Amazon, promoting a culture of safety and efficiency.
  • Travel within the region to support site-based activities and collaborate with colleagues.
About the Team

Our WHS team is dedicated to ensuring the well-being and safety of our employees. We work closely with managers, associates, and local governments to ensure compliance with Amazon's policies and legal regulations. As a member of our team, you will have the opportunity to work on a variety of projects, from equipment and process inspections to assessing processes and building design.

Amazon Logistics (AMZL) handles 'last mile' delivery duties in partnership with third-party distribution businesses. We utilize creative thinking and continuous improvement initiatives to get millions of physical products into the hands of our customers. Our goal is to make our customers' delivery experience as smooth as possible and roll out global delivery solutions for our newest concepts, like Amazon Fresh, Prime Now, and Amazon Restaurants.

We are a people-focused and supportive team, particularly as many of our employees work through the night. We focus on operations, with 24/7 shifts in most of our locations. Meanwhile, our 'on the road' people work with Amazon Flex - a network of delivery contractors. Every year, we continually raise the bar for customer experience with new, innovative delivery services.

Requirements
  • Education to a degree level and 'Fachkraft für Arbeitssicherheit' certification.
  • Professional training in a technical profession, preferably mechatronics or electrics.
  • Relevant experience managing projects and complying with local Health and Safety legislation.
  • Advanced proficiency in verbal and written English and the local language.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Lean, 5S, and Kaizen methodologies.
  • Qualifications or experience in the field of sustainability.
  • Relevant experience of communicating with a wide range of stakeholders, including peers and leadership.
  • Chartered membership of a Human Resources industry body (e.g., IOSH) to support people management.
  • Strong stakeholder management capabilities.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and controls systems.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field.
