About the Role

The IFF Pharma Solutions business is seeking a highly skilled Digital Scientist to join its Polymer Synthesis & Modification group. This role will play a pivotal part in integrating digital technologies into the R&D organization to enhance operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop digital solutions, including automation and database integration.
  • Analyze data, develop scientific models, and deploy them effectively.
  • Apply state-of-the-art methods in computational materials science and machine learning.
  • Manage and deliver digital transformation projects.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define and deliver projects.
  • Act as a technical enabler and partner within Pharma Solutions' R&D organization.

About You

Requirements

  • A master's degree in natural science, engineering, mathematics, or computer science, with 3+ years of experience. A good understanding of chemistry is a plus.
  • Proficiency in data science programming languages (Python, R, Spark), SQL programming, and database development (SQLServer, Oracle, PostgreSQL). Familiarity with cloud services (S3, Lambda, Glue) and application containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) is required.
  • Hands-on experience in introducing, designing, and building digital solutions.
  • A deep understanding of data analysis, statistics, machine learning, and best practices in model development and deployment.
  • Strong self-learning capability, generalist experience, and knowledge.
  • Strong teamwork, interpersonal, and communication skills are required, along with excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently.
  • Willingness to travel abroad.

Our Offer

The position is preferably located within the Pharma Innovation Center in Bomlitz, Germany. Due to the intensive local interaction, at least basic German language skills are required. The main language in business interactions is English. The position is full-time and regular. Other locations can be Wilmington, Delaware, USA, or Midland, Michigan, USA.

The Pharma Solutions business will be taking on its next chapter of growth as a trusted partner for the pharmaceutical industry with the announcement to sell Pharma Solutions to Roquette. This move will position Pharma Solutions to expand its industry leadership through continued investment in innovation to meet the evolving needs of pharmaceutical manufacturers and developers worldwide. The sale is presently expected to close in the first half of 2025, pending regulatory approvals and other closing conditions. The Pharma Solutions business unit will remain a part of IFF until close and, at such time, it will transition to Roquette.
