Condé Nast is in search of an Affiliate Editor for Condé Nast Traveller (CNT) Germany, based in Munich.

This role entails taking charge of all affiliate-driven content across various traditional sectors such as travel destinations, accommodations, lifestyle, culture, and wellness. You will also explore avenues to expand Condé Nast Traveller Germany's affiliate presence into new domains. This includes curating and managing CNT's commerce content calendar to optimize revenue in alignment with established targets.

A strategic mindset is essential, as you will need to stay attuned to travel trends and consumer purchasing behaviors throughout the year. Utilizing data from affiliate platforms and conducting competitor analysis will be crucial in shaping new content and determining update frequencies. Beyond conventional commerce galleries, you will innovate ways to showcase commerce content, such as developing content franchises and dedicated deal articles. Additionally, you will strategize how articles are promoted through a commerce newsletter framework and social media platforms.

You will serve as the primary contact for affiliate content within the CNT team, collaborating closely with our local affiliate relationship manager to enhance and negotiate more profitable CPAs and product placement opportunities with platforms and merchants.
You will oversee and edit the contributions from freelancers, manage the commerce freelance budget, and strategically allocate resources to writers and temporary staff while planning ahead for key travel and shopping events.

A strong analytical capability is vital for this position, as you will create comprehensive frameworks to evaluate daily revenue data from platforms like Skimlinks, Amazon, and Impact. You will leverage these analyses to inform future actions and communicate commerce results via weekly email reports to the CNT editorial team, as well as to the central digital team and other local and European commerce teams at Conde Nast.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the ideation and commissioning of new commerce content across the writing team and freelancers.
  • Stay informed about current trends and competitor activities to guide new content development.
  • Utilize data from Skimlinks, Impact, and Amazon Associates to gain insights into high-performing articles, maintaining a regular update schedule and creating content clusters around popular topics.
  • Provide weekly reports on commerce performance to the central digital and CNT teams, offering a comprehensive view of what is performing well and what is not.
  • Collaborate with the CNT commercial team to align on key events and share opportunities.
  • Work with the CNT editorial team to ensure that content outside the immediate team's scope is optimized for commerce where applicable.
  • Identify potential partnerships with high-performing merchants and explore new strategies to enhance these collaborations for better CPAs and advertorials in conjunction with the affiliate marketing manager.
  • Innovate ways to present commerce content to the CNT audience, including franchises, regular deal articles, and commerce-focused emails.
  • Manage the freelance budget with a strategic focus on short- and long-term return on investment.

Essential Skills & Qualifications

  • Proven ability to lead, organize, and edit the work of a team of writers and freelancers.
  • Strong numerical aptitude and the ability to synthesize various data points to hypothesize trends and spikes.
  • Demonstrated success in maintaining relationships with external merchants to negotiate favorable rates.
  • In-depth knowledge of SEO principles and best practices.
  • Exceptional writing and editing skills, producing clear and engaging copy without jargon.
