This position is part of Cyber & Electronic Warfare, a division within HII's Mission Technologies group. Position Overview

The HII USAFE team is tasked with the architecture, engineering, and deployment of IT networks. The Network Engineer will engage in all facets of designing, engineering, implementing, and troubleshooting switched and routed network infrastructures, emphasizing stability, automation, and innovation.

The Network Engineer will cater to multiple clients, developing and managing strategies across the USAFE team. This role also entails overseeing the modernization initiative at a primary geographic site while extending support to remote locations and various functions and team members directly associated with the program. The program may involve the integration of new technologies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and plan network systems, providing specifications and detailed schematics for network architecture.
  • Offer specific, detailed information for hardware and software selection, implementation methods, and tools to deliver the most efficient solutions that meet business requirements, including current and future capacity needs.
  • Conduct testing of network systems and maintain technical expertise in all areas of network and computer hardware and software interconnection and interfacing, including routers, switches, firewalls, hubs, bridges, gateways, etc.
  • Evaluate and report on emerging network technologies to enhance network capabilities.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 9 years of relevant experience with a Bachelor's degree in a related field; 7 years of relevant experience with a Master's degree; 4 years of relevant experience with a PhD or Juris Doctorate; or a High School Diploma or equivalent with 13 years of relevant experience.
  • Comprehensive understanding of LAN/WAN technologies, IP networking, and telecommunications standards.
  • Proficiency in utilizing network monitoring and management tools.
  • Certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, or equivalent are highly desirable.
  • Active DOD TS clearance is required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience troubleshooting LAN/MAN/WAN and other network-related issues.
  • Providing technical expertise for network performance and configuration.
  • General administration of LAN/BAN/WAN.
  • Technical leadership in the integration and testing of complex large-scale computer integrated networks.
  • Installation, configuration, troubleshooting, and lab setup for various networks.
  • Testing, evaluation, and configuration management of the network.
  • Able to work effectively in a virtual team environment.
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to conduct research into networking issues as needed.

Physical Requirements

May involve working in an office, industrial, shipboard, or laboratory setting. Must be capable of climbing ladders and tolerating confined spaces and extreme temperature variations.
