Job Overview

The HII USAFE team is tasked with the architecture, engineering, and deployment of information technology networks. The Network Engineer on the HII team will be involved in all facets of the design, engineering, implementation, and troubleshooting of switched and routed network infrastructure, emphasizing stability, automation, and innovation.

The Network Engineer will serve multiple clients, developing and managing plans across the USAFE team. Additionally, this role involves overseeing the modernization program at a primary geographic location while also addressing remote locations and coordinating multiple functions and team members directly assigned to the program. The program may necessitate the adoption of new technologies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and plan network systems, providing specifications and detailed schematics for network architecture.
  • Offer specific, detailed information for hardware and software selection, implementation techniques, and tools to achieve the most efficient solutions for business needs, including present and future capacity requirements.
  • Conduct testing of network systems and maintain technical expertise in all areas of network and computer hardware and software interconnection and interfacing, such as routers, switches, firewalls, hubs, bridges, gateways, etc.
  • Evaluate and report on new network technologies to enhance network capabilities.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 9 years of relevant experience with a Bachelor's degree in a related field; 7 years of relevant experience with a Master's degree; 4 years of relevant experience with a PhD or Juris Doctorate; or a High School Diploma or equivalent with 13 years of relevant experience.
  • In-depth understanding of LAN/WAN technologies, IP networking, and telecommunications standards.
  • Proficiency in using network monitoring and management tools.
  • Certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, or equivalent are highly desirable.
  • Active DOD TS clearance at minimum required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Troubleshooting LAN/MAN/WAN and other network-related issues.
  • Providing technical expertise for performance and configuration of networks.
  • Performing general LAN/BAN/WAN administration.
  • Offering technical leadership in the integration and testing of complex large-scale computer integrated networks.
  • Installation, configuration, troubleshooting, and setting up labs for various networks.
  • Testing, evaluating, and managing configuration of the network.
  • Ability to work in a virtual team environment.
  • Conducting research into networking issues as required with proven analytical and problem-solving skills.

Physical Requirements

May require working in an office, industrial, shipboard, or laboratory environment. Capable of climbing ladders and tolerating confined spaces and extreme temperature variances.
