Position Overview

The HII USAFE team is tasked with the architecture, engineering, and deployment of IT networks. The Network Engineer will be integral in all facets of designing, engineering, implementing, and troubleshooting switched and routed network infrastructures, emphasizing stability, automation, and innovation.

The Network Engineer will manage multiple customer engagements, developing and overseeing plans across the USAFE team. This role includes supervising the modernization program at a primary geographic site while also addressing remote locations and coordinating with various functions and team members assigned to the program. The program may necessitate the adoption of new technologies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and plan network systems, providing specifications and detailed schematics for network architecture.
  • Offer specific, detailed information for hardware and software selection, implementation techniques, and tools to meet business needs, including current and future capacity requirements.
  • Conduct testing of network systems and maintain technical expertise in all areas of network and computer hardware and software interconnection, including routers, switches, firewalls, hubs, bridges, and gateways.
  • Evaluate and report on emerging network technologies to enhance network capabilities.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 9 years of relevant experience with a Bachelor's degree in a related field; 7 years with a Master's; 4 years with a PhD or Juris Doctorate; or a High School Diploma with 13 years of relevant experience.
  • Comprehensive understanding of LAN/WAN technologies, IP networking, and telecommunications standards.
  • Proficient in utilizing network monitoring and management tools.
  • Certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, or equivalent are highly desirable.
  • Active DOD TS clearance is required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience troubleshooting LAN/MAN/WAN and other network-related issues.
  • Providing technical expertise for network performance and configuration.
  • Conducting general LAN/BAN/WAN administration.
  • Offering technical leadership in the integration and testing of complex, large-scale computer integrated networks.
  • Installation, configuration, troubleshooting, and lab setup for various networks.
  • Testing, evaluating, and managing configuration of the network.
  • Able to work effectively in a virtual team environment.
  • Capable of conducting research into networking issues as needed, demonstrating strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Physical Requirements

May involve working in an office, industrial, shipboard, or laboratory setting. Must be able to climb ladders and tolerate confined spaces and extreme temperature variations.
