Position Overview:

The Deputy Project Director is responsible for overseeing and guiding a multifaceted project, collaborating with various Project Managers and Senior Project Managers who handle specific segments or phases of the overall initiative.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the project adheres to contractual obligations and meets financial and operational targets, coordinating closely with Business Functions, the Finance Department, and the Regional Project Director.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for all project-related activities, holding accountability for the project's execution.
  • Represent the organization in dealings with the Client, addressing any issues that arise during project implementation.
  • Establish and maintain baseline scope, timelines, and allowances in accordance with change management protocols.
  • Develop the project execution strategy in line with the Company's operational procedures and specific client or contract stipulations.
  • Oversee the creation and ongoing revision of the Project Execution Plan, tracking project phase progress against scheduled timelines, cost estimates, and quality objectives.
  • Define communication policies and processes to ensure clarity among all stakeholders involved in the project.
  • Manage the preparation and continuous updating of the project schedule to monitor and control deliverables.
  • Set a budget, track expenditures against it, identify necessary corrective actions in case of budget overruns, and report results regularly to corporate management.
  • Ensure appropriate resource allocation to facilitate the successful completion of the project.
  • Initiate and review engineering designs, procurement, manufacturing, and field operations to ensure compliance with project specifications.
  • Negotiate contracts with the Client, including additional work and variations.
  • Assist in defining and managing Subcontracts as necessary.
  • Collaborate with the Purchasing department on Make or Buy decisions.
  • Address any payment-related issues with the Client in the event of disputes or delays.

Desirable Skills and Qualifications:

  • 8 to 10 years of experience as a Project Manager in the oil & gas, energy, or civil sectors within a multinational organization.
  • Possession of a recognized Project Management certification (IPMA, PMP, PRINCE, or similar) is advantageous.
  • Prior experience with EPCI projects is preferred.
  • A Master's Degree in Engineering or a related field is desirable.
  • Proficiency in English and German (minimum intermediate level) is required.
  • Strong negotiation skills, teamwork capabilities, and exceptional leadership and influencing abilities.
  • Experience working on-site is beneficial.
  • Specific knowledge of submarine cable and offshore operations will be viewed favorably.
  • A proven track record of delivering results through complex team dynamics.
  • Effective leadership and communication skills, demonstrating competence and credibility.
  • Structured, methodical, and detail-oriented planning skills.
  • Willingness to travel frequently.
