Position Overview

The Facilities Technician II is responsible for the upkeep, installation, and repair of facility and automation equipment within the Distribution Center. This role includes oversight of more intricate tasks as needed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and execute preventive maintenance and repairs on powered industrial machinery and conveyor systems, ensuring compliance with safety protocols to maintain a secure work environment.
  • Conduct repairs and preventive maintenance on building systems, including air compressors, HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems, with welding tasks as required.
  • Maintain open communication with the Facilities Manager and Operations team regarding the status of repairs and their impact on operations.
  • Lead project initiatives to support daily warehouse operations and building projects, coordinating efforts with team members as necessary.
  • Manage the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS), including work orders and inventory control.
  • Perform additional related duties as assigned.

Required Skills and Certifications

  • Proficient in computer systems for tracking work performed and managing assignments, including MS Outlook.
  • Experience with conveyor control systems software and shock watch system software.
  • Skilled in MIG and Stick Welding, with the ability to use tools safely and effectively.
  • Capable of operating all powered equipment within the facility, including yard trucks, forklifts, and maintenance vehicles.

Experience Requirements

  • A minimum of 3 years in a similar maintenance role.
  • Expertise in diagnosing, troubleshooting, and repairing mechanical equipment.

Additional Qualifications

  • Ability to accurately interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and manuals in both paper and digital formats.
  • Strong capability to work independently and collaboratively to complete tasks.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to articulate related issues effectively.
  • Efficient time management skills to meet deadlines and address urgent matters to minimize operational downtime.
  • Willingness to work overtime, off-hours, and weekends as necessary to support operations and project completion.

Physical Demands

  • Regular lifting and carrying of tools and materials weighing between 5 to 60 pounds.
  • Frequent pushing or pulling of equipment and materials.
  • Extended periods of standing while operating powered industrial equipment.
  • Regular walking throughout the warehouse environment.
  • Frequent bending, stooping, kneeling, and twisting motions.
  • Occasional sitting for office tasks and data entry.
  • Repetitive hand and wrist movements.

Work Environment

  • Exposure to varying temperatures based on external conditions and proximity to loading docks.
  • Moderate noise levels from machinery and equipment.
  • Occasional vibrations while operating powered equipment.
  • Regular exposure to lubricants and cleaning agents used in maintenance activities, with occasional exposure to fumes and airborne particles.
