Join Our Team as a Master's Thesis Researcher

We are seeking a highly motivated student to join our team as a Master's Thesis Researcher in the field of two-phase flow instabilities. As a researcher, you will have the opportunity to work on an exciting and challenging project that involves analyzing characteristics of two-phase flow instabilities in water bath vaporizers (WBV).

Key Responsibilities:
  • Analyze characteristics of two-phase flow instabilities in WBV
  • Use in-house developed numerical simulation model to solve mass, momentum, and energy balances in 1D focused on identifying main influence parameters for equipment design
  • Conduct studies on influence parameters to derive basic guidelines for equipment design
  • Evaluate potential countermeasures based on their effectiveness and cost impact
  • Receive supervision from experts in Equipment Process Design and Computational Mechanics department
Requirements:
  • You are a student of process engineering, chemical engineering, or mechanical engineering or similar with very good study achievements
  • You have advanced knowledge in heat and mass transfer, fluid mechanics, and thermodynamics
  • Experience in numerical modeling and simulation as well as very good programming skills in Matlab, Python, C/C++, or similar is a must
  • Knowledge in simulating multi-phase flows with heat and mass transfer using CFD (OpenFoam and/or Ansys Fluent) is beneficial
  • You have an interdisciplinary thinking, commitment, and ability to work independently
