Building Technology Specialist

Eligible applicants include:
- Current Local National Employees within Germany, including those associated with U.S. Forces.
- External Local National Applicants residing in Germany.
As a proficient engineering technician, you will be responsible for planning, executing, and managing intricate project assignments across various mechanical and electrical engineering domains. Your role will involve:
1. **Project Management**: Overseeing entire projects or specific segments of larger initiatives, utilizing analytical skills and engineering judgment.
2. **Design Coordination**: Collaborating with engineers and technicians from different engineering fields to ensure cohesive project specifications.
3. **Field Investigations**: Conducting thorough field surveys to gather technical data, assessing existing conditions to inform the design process.
4. **Compliance and Standards**: Ensuring adherence to host nation construction and environmental regulations while studying relevant construction standards and technical publications.
5. **Cost Analysis**: Developing detailed cost estimates for materials and labor, analyzing completed project costs, and recommending cost-effective alternatives.
6. **Site Inspections**: Regularly visiting construction sites to monitor compliance with plans and specifications, addressing any unforeseen issues that arise during the project lifecycle.
7. **Technical Oversight**: Performing duties as the Contracting Officer's Representative (COR) and managing technical aspects of installed equipment contracts.
To qualify for this position, candidates must meet the following educational and experience requirements:
- **Education**: A Meister Diploma or Staatlich geprüfter Techniker in a relevant trades field, or a degree in engineering (e.g., Wirtschaftsingenieur, Maschinenbau, Elektrotechnik, or Bauwesen).
- **Experience**: A minimum of 2-3 years of job-related experience, demonstrating a strong foundation in engineering principles and practices.
- **Skills**: Proficiency in office automation tools, a valid German driver's license (class B) is preferred.
- **Language Proficiency**: Required proficiency in English (B2) and German (C1).
This is a temporary full-time position, not exceeding 2 years. The role may be filled at varying levels, with potential for non-competitive promotion based on performance and training completion.
