Job Description

Infinera is seeking a highly skilled and motivated PhD researcher to join our Strategic Architecture Engineering Team in Munich. As a PhD student, you will be part of the Doctoral Network NESTOR, a Horizon Europe MSCA project focused on developing next-generation high-speed optical networks for metro access.

Key Responsibilities
  • Investigate and develop novel digital signal processing (DSP) techniques for metro-access networks, with a focus on low-complexity algorithms and energy efficiency.
  • Characterize use cases and physical layer scenarios to craft and simplify DSP algorithms, considering front-haul functional splits and nonlinear fibre propagation.
  • Investigate and develop nonlinear compensation techniques to reduce the impact of distortions in optical communication systems.
  • Test and evaluate the developed algorithms in lab experiments.
Requirements
  • Master's degree in electrical engineering, computer science, or physics.
  • Deep understanding of digital communications, digital signal processing, and optical telecommunications systems.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical information.
  • Programming experience in Matlab, Python, Julia, C++, or similar.
  • English language proficiency (B2-C1 level).
