Position Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled Doctoral Researcher to join our innovative project focused on the development of advanced optical communication systems.

Role Description: The selected candidate will engage in a PhD program as part of a collaborative initiative funded by a prominent European research framework. This role will involve working closely with our Strategic Architecture Engineering Team, contributing to cutting-edge research in digital signal processing (DSP) techniques aimed at enhancing the performance and energy efficiency of metro-access networks.

Research Focus: The PhD research will concentrate on the exploration of low-complexity DSP methodologies tailored for next-generation optical networks. The candidate will investigate the integration of advanced algorithms to optimize system performance in scenarios involving both modern coherent transceivers and legacy communication channels.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Conduct in-depth analysis of DSP algorithms in the context of metro-access network configurations.
  • Investigate innovative strategies to improve the functionality of optical transceivers.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including academic and industry experts.
  • Prepare and present comprehensive reports and technical papers for both internal and external audiences.
  • Contribute to high-impact publications in reputable journals and conferences.

Required Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or Physics.
  • Strong foundation in digital communications, signal processing, and optical systems.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Matlab, Python, or C++ for developing analytical tools.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex concepts clearly.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Candidates must be in the process of obtaining their doctoral degree and should not have previously been awarded one.
  • Applicants should not have resided in Germany for more than 12 months in the past three years.
