We play a pivotal role in delivering near-real-time (NRT) data essential for safeguarding lives, protecting assets, and enhancing economic growth and productivity across Europe. By managing cutting-edge systems for satellite operations, data processing, and real-time service distribution to users globally, we significantly impact people's lives and contribute to the flourishing European economy.
In alignment with our responsibilities, EUMETSAT also oversees several Copernicus missions on behalf of the European Union, providing vital services to the Copernicus marine and atmospheric sectors and their clientele.
To bolster our 24/7 operational systems and services, we seek a skilled system operations team leader to join our ranks. Within the Real-Time Services and System Operations (RSO) Division, which is responsible for system and mission operations, the Team Leader of the Mission Performance Team will guide a group of system operations engineers and analysts, delivering hands-on support for our suite of Mission Performance tools utilized for system operations monitoring and reporting across our systems and services.
Main Responsibilities:
- Collaborating with spacecraft and system operations teams to ensure effective continuous monitoring and reporting of satellite, ground segment, and mission operations along with associated data and products;
- Overseeing and enhancing end-to-end monitoring concepts and systems for both near real-time and offline monitoring and reporting, including improvements, optimization, and automation within a real-time 24/7 operational framework;
- Coordinating system monitoring across EUMETSAT systems, ensuring the harmonization of monitoring tools, and analyzing and implementing tools to oversee the evolving multi-mission architecture;
- Co-chairing the System Monitoring Functional Area Management Board (FAMB) alongside the counterpart in the Technical and Scientific Support Department (TSS);
- Driving the advancement of system monitoring tools and techniques to align with state-of-the-art methodologies, including the application of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning;
- Managing and coordinating the Mission Performance Team while fostering close collaboration with TSS maintenance teams and industrial contractors to ensure optimized performance;
- Assisting in the definition and validation of requirements for any modifications and advancements to the mission performance systems;
- Supporting the development of Mission Performance monitoring tools to facilitate future EUMETSAT satellite systems.
Qualifications:
- A University Degree (or equivalent) in computing, engineering, or a related technical field.
Language Proficiency:
The official languages of EUMETSAT are English and French. Candidates must demonstrate proficiency in English and possess a basic understanding of French.
Employment Conditions:
The initial contract will span four years, with the possibility of subsequent five-year contracts based on individual performance and organizational needs. There is no limit to the number of follow-up contracts a staff member can receive until the EUMETSAT retirement age of 63, providing ample opportunities for a long-term career at EUMETSAT. This position is graded A2/A4 on the EUMETSAT salary scales, with a minimum basic salary that may be negotiable based on skills and experience. In addition to the basic salary, EUMETSAT offers a range of attractive benefits.
