Scope Group is seeking a dedicated and skilled Lead ESG Research Analyst to enhance our ESG team. The ideal candidate will possess robust analytical capabilities and a passion for sustainability, contributing to the innovation of ESG offerings while ensuring the integrity of our existing services. This position demands a combination of quantitative and qualitative assessment, outstanding communication abilities, and a proactive mindset to keep abreast of evolving ESG regulations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and refine ESG evaluation and rating frameworks.
  • Assist in the ideation and implementation of novel ESG product concepts.
  • Perform Second Party Opinions, guaranteeing comprehensive and impartial evaluations.
  • Create and revise marketing, educational, and research materials on diverse ESG subjects.
  • Represent Scope Group's ESG analytical offerings at client engagements, industry conferences, seminars, and panel discussions.
  • Track research and regulatory changes in sustainability, including CSRD, SFDR, IFRS, GRI, and the EU Taxonomy.
  • Execute in-depth sustainability, climate risk, and impact assessments.
  • Analyze sustainability metrics and trends to inform future product development.
  • Oversee ESG data for Scope Group's reporting obligations under CSRD.

Professional and Personal Qualifications

  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in ESG analysis, sustainability, corporate responsibility, or related disciplines.
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant area such as finance, environmental science, business administration, sustainability, economics, or a related field.
  • A Master's degree in a relevant field is preferred.
  • Comprehensive understanding of ESG challenges with a dual-materiality perspective.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Proficiency in developing and sustaining effective ESG methodologies.
  • In-depth knowledge of ESG regulations including CSRD, SFDR, EU Green Bond Standard, and ESG ratings.
  • Highly dependable, detail-oriented, with a commitment to precision and quality.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team and independently as a self-starter, demonstrating self-motivation and adaptability.
  • Strong project management skills to handle multiple projects concurrently.
  • Highly analytical, inquisitive, and capable of innovative thinking.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Exceptional communication and stakeholder engagement abilities, effectively interacting with both internal and external audiences.
  • Familiarity with programming languages such as Python is advantageous.
  • Fluent proficiency in English is essential; proficiency in other European languages, particularly French, is a plus.
  • CFA ESG Investing or EFFAS Certified ESG Analyst certification is a plus.
