Network Systems Engineer

GDIT presents a remarkable opportunity to engage in the SAG-U as a vital member of our Enterprise Mission Information Technology Services (EMITS) program, supporting the mission of U.S. Army Europe and Africa (USAREUR-AF). We are in search of a Systems Administrator (Shift) to ensure continuous operations throughout the year in a dynamic environment.
This role entails a shift work schedule, including responsibilities during nights, weekends, and holidays.
The Systems Administrator will oversee the maintenance of a comprehensive Microsoft Windows environment, which includes managing Active Directory, Exchange, Windows Certificate Authority, DNS, and various applications. Additionally, the Administrator will be responsible for planning and executing regular preventative maintenance checks and services (PMCS). The role involves collaboration with Tier III engineers to provide status updates and reporting. Ideal candidates should possess a solid understanding of diverse technologies and applications relevant to a virtualized server environment (Windows and Linux).
Key Responsibilities:
- Diagnose and resolve hardware and software system issues.
- Coordinate PMCS activities, enhancing preventative strategies in partnership with service providers.
- Execute basic software installations and upgrades for operating systems and layered software packages.
- Monitor and optimize system performance to achieve peak efficiency.
- Ensure data integrity for workstations and servers by implementing standardized software and hardware solutions.
- Administer a mixed environment of Windows and Linux servers and workstations, ensuring optimal performance and security.
- Document Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and Tactics, Techniques, and Procedures (TTP).
- Provide ongoing technical support for software, hardware, and application configurations.
- Guarantee data/media recoverability by adhering to a systematic schedule of system backups and database archiving operations.
- Understand the Risk Management Framework (RMF) to aid in managing Security Controls within our systems.
- Ensure compliance with DoD STIGs across servers, services, and applications, maintaining robust security measures.
- Availability for shift work, including weekends and holidays, as dictated by mission requirements.
Qualifications for Success:
- Security Clearance Required: A DoD Top Secret security clearance.
- Education: BA/BS or equivalent; a Bachelor's degree or equivalent military/government systems administration experience is preferred.
- Required Experience: 3+ years in a relevant field.
- Certification: DOD 8570 IAM Level II Certification.
- Skills: Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced team environment. Physical activity may be required for equipment troubleshooting. Required Technical Skills: Candidates should possess a fundamental understanding of networking principles. Must be eligible to obtain a German Technical Expertise Status Accreditation (TESA).

Preferred Qualifications:
- Advanced industry certifications such as MCTS Server Administrator, MCSA, MCSE, or equivalent.
