European Central Bank Internal Audit Trainee

About the Role
As a trainee auditor, you will be responsible for analyzing and documenting business and/or IT processes and systems in the fields of central banking and banking supervision. You will evaluate the effectiveness, efficiency, and risk exposure of these processes and systems and propose improvements. You will also apply various analytical techniques in response to specific testing goals and prepare technical documents, working papers, and reports for the individual stages of an audit mission.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze and document business and/or IT processes and systems in central banking and banking supervision
- Evaluate the effectiveness, efficiency, and risk exposure of these processes and systems and propose improvements
- Apply various analytical techniques in response to specific testing goals
- Prepare technical documents, working papers, and reports for the individual stages of an audit mission
- Contribute to audit governance and management work in terms of planning, methodology, quality assurance, and continuous improvement
- Support and work with a wide range of professionals at all hierarchical levels of your hosting organizations

Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or higher in internal audit, information technology, computer science, data science, statistics, finance, accounting, business administration, economics, or another relevant field
- Knowledge of the functioning of the Eurosystem, the ESCB, and European banking supervision
- Good knowledge of the MS Office package, in particular Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Advanced (C1) command of English and an intermediate (B1) command of at least one other official language of the EU
Desirable Qualifications
- Master's degree in internal audit, information technology, computer science, data science, statistics, finance, accounting, business administration, economics, or another relevant field
- Knowledge of the International Professional Practices Framework (the most recent update) established by the Institute of Internal Auditors
- Intermediate (B1) command of Lithuanian, Croatian, French, German, Spanish, Italian, or Portuguese according to the CEFR
- Practical experience in one or more of the following fields: internal audit, finance, quantitative analysis, accounting, controlling, risk management, cyber security, cloud computing, digital forensics, IT general and application controls, business process automation, use of artificial intelligence tools
Working Modalities
During the traineeship, you will spend approximately six months at the ECB and another six months at an NCB or NCA. This may involve additional business travel. For the period at the ECB, you will, if you are eligible, receive a monthly accommodation allowance or be given free accommodation at one of the ECB residences in Frankfurt am Main. For the other period spent at a national institution, you will receive a monthly accommodation allowance.
