Job Title: Trainee Finnish Translator

As a trainee translator, you will be part of a dynamic team at the European Central Bank, working on a wide range of texts in the fields of central banking and banking supervision. Your role will involve translating English texts into Finnish, proof-reading texts written in Finnish, identifying and extracting terminology, and contributing to other activities of the Finnish team.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Translate a variety of texts from English into Finnish, ensuring accuracy and consistency.
  • Proof-read texts written in Finnish, ensuring high-quality output.
  • Identify, extract, and compile terminology in Finnish, contributing to the development of the team's knowledge base.
  • Collaborate with the Finnish team on various projects, providing linguistic and drafting advice as needed.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in modern languages or translation.
  • Experience in translating English texts into Finnish, either as part of a degree course or in a professional context.
  • Native-speaker standard (C2) command of Finnish and an advanced (C1) command of English.
  • Good knowledge of the MS Office package, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Desirable Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in modern languages or translation.
  • Intermediate (B1) command of another official EU language.
  • Familiarity with translation using computer-assisted translation tools, such as Trados Studio.
  • Broad knowledge of European current affairs, with a particular interest in financial and economic matters.
