Join our Customer IT Team
Our Customer IT division is dedicated to developing and managing specialized IT solutions in close collaboration with various departments. These solutions support over 5 million national end consumers, ensure the efficiency of our service partners in call center operations, and facilitate our regulatory market responsibilities. The Customer IT is organized into six teams located in different cities.
Following a series of successful pilot projects and the productive large-scale rollout of ambitious BI/AI/ML services, we have decided to significantly enhance our local "Customer Analytics" team. As a result, we have created several new positions, including:
- (Junior/Senior) Data Science Engineer
- Solution Architect for BI/AI/ML Solutions
- (Junior/Senior) Data & ML Engineer on AWS
Your Role: Bridging Technology and Business Value
Our Customer Analytics team comprises over 25 highly specialized Data Engineers, Data Scientists, Application Consultants, Developers, and ML Engineers. This dynamic team is characterized by its diverse expertise, various career paths, and high levels of technical and process competence. Our goal is to advance the international Vattenfall Group in the fields of Machine Learning and Data Engineering, pushing the boundaries of what is technically possible.
As a Data Science Engineer, you will initiate exploratory pilot projects and implement innovative solutions around our cloud-based analytical platform, which is continuously enhanced with the latest Microsoft Azure technologies. You will have access to a comprehensive range of Microsoft Azure AI Services, including Azure OpenAI, Azure Functions, Cognitive Search, as well as custom developments in Python, R, (Py)Spark, SQL databases, Azure Data Factory, Databricks, and AWS components.
We empower you to cover the entire value chain: from connecting various data sources (ETL) to developing complex querying and analysis routines, as well as implementing targeted visualization solutions; you will make a significant impact.
In addition to your technical and solution expertise, your holistic consulting approach will contribute to Vattenfall's efforts to solidify its leading position in the German energy market, making the fossil-free energy transition a reality, and ensuring our business processes are scalable, digital, data-driven, and consistently customer-oriented.

What Sets You Apart?
You hold an academic degree in Computer Science, Information Management, Enterprise Automation, or a related field in natural or engineering sciences.
We believe the following skills will make you successful in this position:
- You are passionate about building bridges between technical innovation and realized business value with enthusiasm and dedication.
- You uncover mathematical or stochastic relationships and are proficient in some of the following technologies:
- MS Azure (e.g., Data Factory, Azure Functions, Azure Analysis Services, DevOps, etc.)
- Data Warehouse solutions like Azure Synapse or Snowflake
- Python, Spark, PySpark, R, C#, Java
- ETL (e.g., Azure Data Factory, Matillion, etc.)
- (MS)SQL, Databricks, Delta Lake
- Machine Learning / Deep Learning (e.g., via TensorFlow, Keras, PyTorch, Caffe2, etc.)
- Experience in implementing IVR solutions is advantageous, as are BI/AI/ML competencies in the digitalization of B2C mass processes or contact center automation.

- You communicate fluently in both English and German.
