Position Overview:

Fresenius Medical Care is on the lookout for a (Senior) Sustainability Manager (m/f/d) to join our Global Sustainability team. The (Senior) Sustainability Manager (m/f/d) will oversee sustainability evaluations, initiatives, and change management processes.

We seek a seasoned sustainability advocate, adept at navigating complex projects involving diverse stakeholders, with a keen interest in sustainability issues. You will collaborate within a highly motivated, international team committed to shaping the sustainable future of Fresenius Medical Care.

Key Responsibilities:

Manage projects related to selected global strategic initiatives, including project documentation, data consolidation, ongoing monitoring of project status, and communication with team members and relevant stakeholders. Collaborate with business units and functional departments on sustainability initiatives, providing expert input and support while sharing knowledge through dedicated communication channels. Identify and implement tools to enhance accuracy and efficiency. Continuously refine global sustainability assessments to systematically analyze and address sustainability risks, opportunities, and requirements. This includes reviewing our global sustainability standards and objectives, as well as defining action plans and processes to meet our ESG targets. Support the monitoring and analysis of sustainability-related developments and trends (such as legal requirements, regulations, and investor inquiries), benchmarking, action plan development, audit preparation, training, and other communication efforts.

Candidate Profile:

You hold a degree in sustainability management/technologies, environmental science, chemistry, healthcare, or a related field, complemented by several years of experience in an international EHS, regulatory, strategy, or sustainability department, or in a consulting firm focused on climate protection, circular economy, product development, or operational excellence. Your excellent interpersonal, intercultural, and presentation skills enable you to engage effectively with others. A strong team spirit is essential to you. You have successfully led large cross-functional and international projects, with a background in change management being advantageous. You are self-motivated and thrive in managing multiple initiatives simultaneously. Your understanding of complex organizational dynamics and analytical skills for continuous improvement allow you to integrate diverse stakeholder perspectives effectively. You exhibit a strong process-oriented, structured, and conscientious working style. Familiarity with common sustainability terminology (such as ESG and EHS) and sustainability reporting requirements, including standards like EU CSRD, LkSG & CSDDD, EU Taxonomy, GRI, and SASB, is expected. Additional qualities include the ability to prioritize tasks, work independently, a strong affinity for numbers, and a detail-oriented approach focused on results and service. Familiarity with our products and services is a plus; otherwise, comprehensive onboarding will be provided. Proficiency in English (both written and spoken) is mandatory, with knowledge of German being advantageous.
