Master's Thesis on Integrating Interaction Concepts for AR Glasses in Automotive UX

Position Overview:

This thesis opportunity focuses on the integration of interaction concepts for augmented reality (AR) glasses within the context of multimodal user experience (UX) in vehicles. The research will be conducted in collaboration with the Future UX-Concepts & UX-SW Technologies department at Mercedes-Benz AG.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough research on human-machine interaction technologies, specifically related to gesture-based interactions with AR/VR/XR glasses.
  • Assess the potential for transferring these interaction concepts into a vehicle UX context.
  • Develop user journeys and stories to clarify integration concepts, followed by prototyping within our digital experience environments.
  • Design and execute a UX evaluation to validate the proposed concepts.
  • Document the methodology and findings of the research comprehensively.
  • Prepare and present the results of the thesis work effectively.

Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in a degree program such as UI/UX design, human-computer interaction, animation and game design, or a related field.
  • Familiarity with AR/VR/XR technologies and their interaction frameworks.
  • Strong background in developing UX/UI concepts and understanding of UX technologies.
  • Experience in prototyping and integrating consumer devices into simulation or testing environments.
  • Passion for exploring technological trends and their applications.
  • Ability to work independently while demonstrating high motivation and teamwork skills.
  • Proficient in both German and English, with excellent communication skills.
  • Competent in using MS Office and software development tools.
  • A valid class B driver's license is preferred.
