Responsibilities:

As our Director of AI Communications, you'll lead a team of AI managers who oversee research engineers and computational linguists. Together, you'll design and build cutting-edge solutions in natural language technologies, including paraphrasing, grammar checking, proofreading, summarization, and translation.

You'll deliver solutions that transform users' lives, drive business outcomes, and shape the industry of language products.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Direct AI managers who lead teams of research engineers and computational linguists to design and build state-of-the-art solutions in natural language technologies.
  2. Deliver solutions that change users' lives, drive business outcomes, and transform the industry of language products.
  3. Identify gaps in team knowledge/practices and contribute new processes and ideas to help AI managers solve novel research problems.
  4. Collaborate with product leadership to form and flesh out the product roadmap.
  5. Own the team's goals and roadmap on a quarterly and annual basis.
  6. Distribute initiatives to teams to accomplish goals.
  7. Shape multilingual language products through impactful decision making about the design and construction of natural language technologies.
  8. Deeply understand relevant products and their users in order to maximize the impact of the team's AI solutions.
  9. Create and maintain a culture of uncompromising pursuit of quality in AI solutions.
  10. Mentor AI managers and individual contributors to increase technical skills, product intuition, and the ability to impact users.

Ideal Candidate:

We're looking for a highly qualified individual with a PhD in computer science, computational linguistics, artificial intelligence, or a related field, or equivalent experience. You should have a record of publications at top venues in artificial intelligence, natural language processing, and machine learning, on par with that of a tenured professor at an R1 university, or equivalent evidence of transformative impact on relevant fields.

We're seeking someone with 8+ years of experience as a people manager of teams building artificial intelligence technology, extensive experience designing, implementing, and optimizing artificial intelligence solutions for natural language applications, and a passion for writing, reading, and research.

A strong command of the English language is essential, and expertise in one or more of the following languages: German, French, Dutch, Spanish, or Portuguese, is preferred.
