Purpose & Overall Relevance for the Organization:
The Director of Compensation and Benefits serves as a pivotal partner in a dynamic environment, steering the creation and execution of compensation strategies that align with the overarching goals of the organization while enhancing employee engagement.
This role encompasses both regional leadership and global oversight, which includes:
- Leading compensation and benefits initiatives for the adidas headquarters and Central cluster, including Switzerland, Austria, and Eastern Europe.
- Overseeing global compensation strategies for various corporate functions, global brands, and HR4HR.
In this capacity, the Director will manage all facets of compensation and benefits, including remuneration, employee benefits, cross-border employment, and recognition programs. Additionally, this role will be responsible for the implementation and communication of compensation processes, standards, and guidelines within the business unit.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as the primary contact for key HR and business stakeholders, collaborating to develop global compensation solutions focused on enhancing the employee experience.
- Build and maintain relationships with senior HR leadership and executive business stakeholders, providing expert guidance and support while offering constructive challenges when necessary.
- Foster connections within teams and with external stakeholders, promoting a global perspective in the execution of programs and policies.
- Communicate and clarify local compensation arrangements in Germany.
- Ensure comprehensive understanding and communication of collective agreement arrangements within the HR community and among employees.
- Engage with local employee representative groups in Germany as needed.
- Utilize storytelling techniques to facilitate effective change management and secure alignment.
- Lead project workstreams and initiatives that extend beyond the immediate team.
- Collaborate with other HR functions, Finance, Tax, and Labor Relations to ensure alignment and compliance of compensation programs.
- Engage with Labor Law to incorporate HR insights into collective agreement arrangements and ensure compliance.
- Participate in internal and external networks to promote knowledge sharing and innovation.
- Stay informed about trends affecting compensation programs.
- Continuously evaluate compensation programs to ensure alignment with market standards and organizational strategy.
Germany Employee Representative Group Specific Activities:
- Manage relationships with employee representative groups in Germany, fostering positive dialogue.
- Support negotiations with employee representatives on compensation-related topics from an expert standpoint.
- Contribute to the drafting of legal agreements as necessary.
- Prepare and deliver training and communication materials related to compensation programs in Germany.
- Collaborate with global experts to understand upcoming initiatives and provide tailored advice for Germany.
- Ensure compliance of compensation programs with regulatory requirements and collective agreements, monitoring KPIs closely.
- Represent the organization in strategic internal teams involving Labor Law, Labor Relations, and Talent.

- Deep knowledge of compensation products and processes gained through experience.

Education and Experience Requirements:
- 8+ years of experience in HR compensation and benefits, with a focus on remuneration.
- Fluency in German and English is required.
- University degree or equivalent education in HR, Finance, or Law.
- Proven ability to influence and negotiate at the executive level.
- Demonstrated project management skills.
- Experience leading teams, either directly or indirectly.
