Join Our Team as a Quantum Sensor Technology Researcher

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled researcher to join our team at the Fraunhofer Institute for Applied Solid State Physics IAF. As a Quantum Sensor Technology Researcher, you will be working on the development of new magnetic field sensors based on the quantum mechanical system of nitrogen vacancy (NV) centers in diamond.

What You Will Do
  • Conduct research on laser-based magnetic field quantum sensors with NV centers in diamond.
  • Characterize new metallic materials using advanced techniques.
  • Investigate microelectronic circuits using NV scanning probe magnetometry.
  • Develop new measurement methods based on scanning probe magnetometry.
What You Bring to the Table
  • You are an enrolled student in the field of physics or a comparable discipline.
  • You have a strong interest in challenging scientific content from experiment and theory.
  • You have experience in experimental laboratory work in optics/photonics, scanning probe microscopy (STM/AFM) or with NV centers.
  • You have good programming skills, ideally in Python.
  • You have a good understanding of optics, lasers, and quantum physics.
  • You have good written and spoken English.
  • You enjoy scientific work and are able to work in a team.
