The Role
Data is crucial for unlocking future growth at SumUp. Within the Analytical Data division, we will identify market strategies that enhance revenue, explore automation opportunities, and drive efficiency improvements. Sustaining growth over time necessitates precise measurement of our key business metrics, from customer acquisition to lifecycle management. This requires fostering a culture that values data and leveraging analytical insights to comprehend customer behaviors deeply.
The Director of Data Insights will be pivotal in promoting data-driven decision-making across the organization. This individual will be tasked with implementing our vision for Analytics and advocating for data utilization in critical business choices. Leading a team of analysts across various sectors, they will gather, analyze, and interpret data to deliver valuable insights and recommendations that propel the business forward.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and communicate the long-term strategy for Data Analytics throughout SumUp.
- Lead and nurture a team of Data Analysts, Analytical Engineers, and Data Engineers working across Revenue Analytics, Business Intelligence, and Marketing.
- Establish uniform standards and ensure metric consistency across the organization, promoting collaboration and effective prioritization.
- Enhance and maintain the necessary tools to deliver data products efficiently, enabling innovation driven by customer insights.
- Encourage a culture of data-informed decision-making by implementing effective Analytics operating models and applying strong business acumen.
- Collaborate with Product and Technology leaders to integrate data-driven decision-making into product development.
- Work closely with the Engineering team to align on data strategy and deliver cross-functional projects.
- Guide teams across the organization in defining and delivering their own data products with clear governance.
- Develop new data capabilities in line with industry best practices and emerging technologies.
- Prototype and assess new product concepts, focusing on advancements in AI, Machine Learning, and sophisticated data modeling techniques.
- Oversee Measurement, Instrumentation, User Consent Management, and Metrics Reporting.
- Provide leadership in Analytics across SumUp, ensuring that professionals in this field are set up for success in their skill development and career paths.
- Represent Data Analytics internally and externally, fostering visibility, education, and collaboration.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience in leading Data Analytics teams with ownership of various Data Analytics initiatives in a decentralized, agile environment.
- Proven ability to achieve success through influence and navigate a complex stakeholder landscape.
- Experience in developing Data Analysts at all levels in technical skills and strategic insights.
- Strong business acumen and executive partnership skills, with a track record of delivering measurable customer impact.
- Experience collaborating with Finance, Marketing, Product, and Technology teams to co-create solutions.
- Confident and impactful communicator.
- Solid technical foundation in data analytics, including proficiency in statistical analysis, data mining, and programming languages.
- Ability to collaborate with Central Platform Engineering teams to ensure seamless integration of data governance policies.
