About the Position

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled student engineer to join our team at the Deutsches Zentrum für Luft- und Raumfahrt (DLR) in Oberpfaffenhofen. As a student researcher, you will be working on the development of a hardware breadboard to validate attitude control algorithms for multiple laser communication terminals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and implement a hardware breadboard to test attitude control algorithms for multiple laser communication terminals
  • Develop software to control motorized attitude manipulation platforms to simulate dynamic orbit scenarios
  • Automate the breadboard test plan using Python
  • Validate the functionality of the involved algorithms and benchmark their performance
Requirements
  • Hands-on experience in embedded C/C++ programming for microcontrollers
  • Knowledge of writing code in Python
  • Experience with hardware projects at university or as part of a hobby
  • Interest in optical communications
  • Ability to work independently
  • Very good technical English or German required
