We are currently seeking a Cybersecurity Engineer specializing in Secure Communication Systems for our Institute of Communication and Navigation, Department of Communication Systems located in Oberpfaffenhofen. This role involves conducting cutting-edge research and development in Cybersecurity Design, focusing on data links and risk assessment of radio communication systems.
Key Responsibilities:- Oversee the architecture of secure systems, networks, and applications within the communication and navigation domain, particularly concentrating on layers 2-3 of the networking model.
- Develop innovative communication protocols while assessing potential security vulnerabilities in international collaborative projects.
- Contribute to the cybersecurity framework of the next-generation digital aeronautical communication system LDACS.
- Engage with global partners to validate and standardize emerging communication protocols.
- Participate in flight tests and experimental activities utilizing DLR research aircraft.
- Master's degree in engineering or a related discipline.
- A PhD in relevant fields is highly desirable.
- In-depth experience in communication systems, cybersecurity, and threat assessment.
- Proficiency in various programming languages.
- Experience in project management and securing external funding.
- A proven record of publishing research findings and presenting at academic conferences.
- Experience in mentoring and guiding junior staff.
- Fluency in English is essential.
