Senior Rust Engineer

At Qdrant, we are pioneering the development of an open-source vector database designed to empower developers with state-of-the-art vector similarity search capabilities. Our primary offering is the open-source Vector Similarity Search Engine, and our goal is to deliver a scalable, economical, and open-source framework that streamlines the creation of applied-AI solutions. As a rapidly expanding startup, we are on the lookout for a Rust Software Engineer to enhance our team.
Key Projects
Our flagship initiative is the Qdrant Vector Search Engine, which is open-source and developed in Rust. You can explore it on GitHub.
ResponsibilitiesWe seek a Rust developer to contribute to the advancement of our core project.
Some of the technical challenges we are addressing include the creation of a distributed version of the engine, enhancing search and data storage efficiency, and the integration of new functionalities.
Qualifications1. Proficiency in Rust: A minimum of 3 years of practical experience in Rust programming.
2. Linux Kernel Knowledge: A comprehensive understanding of the Linux Kernel, which includes:
- Memory management utilizing mmaps
- Advanced networking principles
- Familiarity with concepts such as io_uring
3. Expertise in Data Structures & Optimization: In-depth knowledge of data structures and optimization methods, including a solid understanding of the benefits of B-Trees compared to binary trees.
4. Asynchronous Programming Expertise: Strong understanding of asynchronous programming principles, particularly with `futures`, `tokio`, or similar frameworks.
5. Experience in Search Engine and Database Architecture: Background in designing and engaging with the architecture of search engines and database systems, focusing on performance and scalability.
