Campus Security Officer

- Conducts patrols of campus facilities and grounds, ensuring compliance with laws and regulations. Offers escort services as needed and provides coverage for Campus Police Dispatchers. Manages access control by locking and unlocking doors.
Executes security and safety responsibilities at off-campus locations owned or utilized by the institution. Delivers messages and assists in locating students during emergencies.
- Fosters public relations and disseminates general information. Assists with traffic management (directing traffic, responding to accidents, aiding with parking issues, etc.). Compiles detailed reports on investigations, complaints, and security concerns.
Gathers, organizes, and documents evidence, and may be required to testify in legal proceedings.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: A high school diploma or equivalent is required, along with one year of experience in law enforcement. Candidates must comply with relevant state statutes. Two years of continuous military service or equivalent public interaction experience may be considered in lieu of the required experience. Relevant college coursework or vocational training may also substitute for experience on a year-for-year basis, with 30 semester hours from an accredited institution or 720 hours from a vocational school. Preference will be given to candidates holding Florida Law Enforcement certification and one year of law enforcement experience.

Awareness of laws regarding arrest, search, and seizure. Knowledge of security protocols. Proficiency in building access and alarm systems. Familiarity with academic scheduling and operational hours. General knowledge of college and departmental information. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to function effectively in high-pressure situations. Capability to gather critical information and maintain effective working relationships. Proficient interviewing skills. Ability to apply laws and regulations judiciously. Competence in managing challenging interactions. Organizational skills for coordinating work tasks. Effective verbal and written communication skills. Ability to follow instructions accurately. Independence in work execution. Strong critical thinking and reasoning abilities. Skill in producing clear and grammatically correct reports. Certification in first aid and CPR. Capability to perform outdoor duties in various weather conditions. Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and perform tasks such as walking, running, bending, and climbing stairs. Proficiency in operating dispatch systems. Strong computer skills. Ability to remain seated for long durations. Competence in executing arrests when necessary. Safe driving skills.
