EUMETSAT, an intergovernmental organization located in Darmstadt, Germany, serves 30 member states with a mission to be the premier user-driven operational agency in Europe. Our commitment is to deliver reliable weather and Earth system monitoring from space, providing critical near-real-time (NRT) data that play a vital role in saving lives, safeguarding property, and enhancing economic growth across Europe. Through the management of advanced systems for satellite operations, data processing, and real-time service distribution, we significantly impact the lives of individuals and contribute to the robust European economy.

To bolster our 24/7 operational capabilities, we are seeking a skilled system operations team leader to join our dynamic group. Within the Real-Time Services and System Operations (RSO) Division, which is accountable for system and mission operations, the Team Leader of the Mission Performance Team will guide a team of system operations engineers and analysts, providing essential support for our suite of Mission Performance tools utilized for monitoring and reporting system operations across our services.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Collaborating with spacecraft and system operations teams to ensure effective continuous monitoring and reporting of satellite, ground segment, and mission operations along with associated data and products;
  • Overseeing and enhancing end-to-end monitoring concepts and systems for both near real-time and offline monitoring and reporting, including improvements, optimization, and automation in a real-time 24/7 operational setting;
  • Coordinating system monitoring across EUMETSAT systems, including the harmonization of monitoring tools and the analysis and implementation of tools to adapt to the evolving multi-mission architecture;
  • Co-chairing the System Monitoring Functional Area Management Board (FAMB) alongside the counterpart in the Technical and Scientific Support Department (TSS);
  • Driving the advancement of system monitoring tools and methodologies to ensure alignment with state-of-the-art practices, including the integration of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning;
  • Managing and coordinating the Mission Performance Team while fostering close collaboration with TSS maintenance teams and industrial contractors to ensure optimal performance;
  • Assisting in the definition and validation of requirements for any modifications and enhancements to the mission performance systems;
  • Contributing to the development of Mission Performance monitoring tools to support future EUMETSAT satellite systems.

Qualifications:

A University Degree (or equivalent) in computing, engineering, or a related technical field is required.

Language Proficiency:
