Inventory Control Specialist

Objective and Overview:

The Inventory Control Specialist is responsible for the receipt, storage, and distribution of equipment, materials, merchandise, or tools. This role involves maintaining accurate stock records within a stockroom, warehouse, or storage area through a variety of essential tasks.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Verifies incoming shipments by counting, sorting, or weighing items to ensure accuracy against requisitions or invoices.
  • Unpacks and repacks Mobility Readiness Spares Packages while conducting inventory checks and stock replenishment.
  • Inspects stock to confirm compliance with established specifications.
  • Organizes items in storage areas based on identifying characteristics such as style, size, or material type.
  • Processes orders and distributes supplies from inventory.
  • Requests additional items to maintain bench stock levels.
  • Prepares reports detailing the usage of stocked items, inventory adjustments, spoilage or damage, location changes, and shipment refusals.
  • Labels items with identifying codes, numbers, or letters.
  • Allocates stock to production personnel while keeping accurate records of materials issued.
  • Performs maintenance or repairs on items held in inventory.
  • Determines optimal storage methods, identification, and stock placement, taking into account factors such as temperature, humidity, weight limits, turnover rates, and space requirements.
  • Cuts materials to size as needed to fulfill orders.
  • Transfers materials or supplies to other departments as required.
  • Maintains accurate inventory and stock records.
  • Accepts suggestions for bench stock additions from staff, forwarding recommendations to supervisors for evaluation.
  • Ensures that shop tools are operational, reporting any damages and requesting replacements as necessary.
  • Assembles individual tool kits for various trades using a predefined tools list.
  • Manages the sign-out process for tool kits according to established procedures.
  • Restocks common hand tools to replenish kits as approved by management.
  • May be required to operate a forklift.
  • Undertakes additional duties as assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • One (1) to Three (3) years of relevant experience.
  • Familiarity with USAF Supply functions is preferred.
  • Proficiency in office software applications, particularly Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel, for effective communication.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and maintain workflow efficiency.
  • Competence in reading, writing, and interpreting data.
  • Forklift operation experience may be necessary.
  • Must be proficient in English, both written and spoken.
  • Authorization to work in the host country is required.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements:

The role requires frequent reaching with hands and arms, standing, and using hands for various tasks. Occasional walking, sitting, climbing, kneeling, crouching, or crawling may be necessary. The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds regularly and up to 50 pounds occasionally. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
