Your Role and Responsibilities

At our Siemens Mobility facility, we are engaged in the development of software for our Vectron locomotives.

  • As a Software Development Manager (f/m/d), you will serve as a crucial liaison between engineering teams focused on vehicle control and train control systems (ATP), ensuring that enhancements and modifications to locomotive software are executed with optimal quality, timeliness, and adherence to processes.
  • Your role will involve preparing requirements (including market, customer, and regulatory specifications) in a manner that enables successful implementation by our project engineers.
  • You will coordinate the efforts of our project engineers, ensuring compliance with established processes.
  • Defining milestones, monitoring progress, and proactively addressing any issues to maintain compliance will be key aspects of your responsibilities, with a strong focus on cost management.
  • For new or modified equipment packages for our locomotives, you will oversee, drive, and supervise software development, ensuring synchronization with hardware components.
  • Collaboration with interface partners (such as engineering, project management, and internal approval teams) will be essential.
  • You will present the outcomes of your work to both internal stakeholders and external parties (including project management and clients).

Qualifications and Skills

  • A successful technical bachelor's degree (e.g., in electrical engineering, mechatronics, or industrial engineering) is fundamental to your success.
  • Extensive professional experience in software development within the rail vehicle sector (e.g., as a software developer (f/m/d) or technical sub-project manager (f/m/d)) is required.
  • Familiarity with train control systems is advantageous.
  • You possess the ability to recognize technical interdependencies and enjoy providing structured support for innovative processes.
  • Your excellent teamwork and communication skills have enabled you to navigate complex matrix structures effectively.
  • Fluency in German and a good command of English, along with a willingness to travel across Europe, are essential.
