Key Responsibilities

Position Overview

This role is situated in Berlin. The Operational Permanent Control (OPC) function at NiCKEL Germany is responsible for implementing and sustaining the risk management and control framework. The OPC operates in alignment with the policies, procedures, and internal guidelines established by independent control functions (Risk, Compliance, and Legal), as well as adhering to external regulatory and supervisory standards. The local OPC collaborates closely with the OPC Central team on all operational risk matters.

Main Responsibilities include:

  • Assessing, evaluating, and managing Operational Risks.
  • Overseeing the ongoing revision of the Risk Mapping (RCSA) and ensuring its validation by the appropriate hierarchical level, including the identification and evaluation of processes and significant associated risks, and contributing to the formulation and monitoring of risk mitigation strategies.
  • Analyzing and identifying requirements regarding risk taxonomy, process mapping, and organizational mapping within its scope.
  • Ensuring alignment between the RCSA and the Control Plan (LCP) of the department.
  • Managing Historical and External Incidents:
  • Collecting incidents, analyzing them, and updating them in the designated tool.
  • Collaborating with stakeholders to define corrective measures aimed at mitigating risks.
  • Staying informed about external incidents to incorporate them when relevant.
  • Organization and Procedures:
  • Ensuring that procedures within the scope are accurately documented and updated, with a proper local implementation of the Group's requirements and suggesting adjustments when necessary.
  • Ensuring adherence to established procedures.
  • Controls and Control Plans:
  • Defining and updating the local control plan (LCP) in accordance with Business Control Libraries (CCL) and based on the results of risk assessments, regulations, and other risk-related events (historical incidents, control outcomes, external events, audit missions, etc.).
  • Executing and/or coordinating control plans, documenting results in the designated tool, and following up on remediation action plans developed with stakeholders.
  • Action Plans, Recommendations, and Permanent Control Actions:
  • Organizing the follow-up of findings and recommendations from internal and external sources and ensuring their timely implementation.
  • Contributing to the identification, creation, follow-up, and closure of action plans for the first line of defense.
  • Alerts and Reporting:
  • Reporting and providing necessary alerts regarding any operational risk incidents to the appropriate management level and relevant control functions.
  • Delivering periodic reports to management and control functions.
  • Governance and Committee:
  • Actively participating in the preparation of the monthly permanent control Committee (collaborating with OPC Nickel France).
  • Offering support and guidance in the validation process of new activities.
  • Awareness, Training, and Consulting:
  • Ensuring that employees are informed about operational risk and permanent control.

  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in the banking or payment industry with a background in audit or control functions;
  • Proficiency in German and English is essential; knowledge of French is advantageous;
