Role ResponsibilitiesThe selected candidate will engage in the characterization of KTL (cathodic dip coating) materials, focusing on the corrosion development at component edges. In the context of modern vehicle design, the emphasis on corrosion protection is primarily reliant on technical assessments and the expertise of seasoned professionals. Within the Surface & Corrosion Protection department, a digital simulation of the corrosion process is being developed to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
This simulation aims to swiftly illustrate the impact of corrosion on components and vehicles, correlating findings with real-world data through advanced numerical methods.
Given the inherent design vulnerabilities, component edges are particularly prone to corrosion due to various physical and manufacturing factors, such as reduced paint thickness and interruptions in galvanization. The objective of this research is to evaluate the corrosion resistance of different cathodic dip coatings with varying thicknesses applied to component edges, utilizing in-house corrosion testing facilities.
Key Challenges- Acquaintance with the subject matter and existing evaluation techniques.
- Preparation of corrosion samples, including pre-treatment and coating processes in both laboratory and production environments.
- Execution and oversight of corrosion testing procedures.
- Analysis and documentation of test outcomes.
- Degree in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Chemistry, Mechanical Engineering, Surface Technology, or a related field.
- Laboratory experience is preferred.
- Proficient in MS Office applications.
- Familiarity with Matlab is advantageous.
- Ability to work independently and in a structured manner.
- Strong focus on goals and results.
- Reliability and enthusiasm for experimental work.
