Quantum Research Specialist

The potential of contemporary quantum technologies remains significantly limited. They often exhibit sluggish performance and high error rates; researchers dedicate substantial time to fine-tuning their configurations. We are assembling a team of exceptional individuals to tackle this challenge. Our RequirementsAs we develop tools to assist researchers and engineers in comprehending their quantum systems, we seek a group of experimental physicists skilled in the measurement, calibration, and characterization of superconducting quantum processors. This group conducts various one and two-qubit characterization experiments – employing both standard methodologies and customized, innovative approaches – to enhance the ever-expanding repository of characterization experiments within our platform. The team collaborates with academic and industrial partners to perform these experiments and analyze the data for the comprehensive deployment of authentic quantum computing hardware across multiple test sites and partner locations throughout Europe.
Your QualificationsWe are in search of individuals who recognize the challenges faced by experimentalists (spending extensive periods optimizing their systems after each cooling cycle) and the benefits that software and automation can provide in this context. It is essential that you possess substantial experience in the initiation of superconducting quantum processors, progressing from cooling to fully calibrated two-qubit gates. We require scientists who are adept at communicating (and translating between) the terminologies used by theoretical physicists and experimentalists/engineers.
Essential and Preferred Qualifications:
- Robust background in Measurement and Control of Quantum Systems (PhD/MSc in Physics, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent practical experience) is essential
- A minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience with Superconducting Qubits (e.g., single and two-qubit gates, readout) is essential
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in calibrating multi-qubit Quantum Processing Units from the ground up is essential
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in scientific programming and software system development is essential
- A minimum of 2 years of experience utilizing software for interfacing with Quantum Processing Units/control electronics and data analysis is essential
- Experience in a collaborative software development environment (e.g., version control, code review, style guidelines) is preferred
- 1 year of experience in industry or academic research is preferred
- You must already reside or be willing to relocate within EU time zones (CET±1)
