Your Role

We are seeking seasoned HV Substation Project Managers to enhance our Owner's Engineering team. In this role, you will leverage your extensive background in HV substation primary technology (AIS, GIS, and/or Hybrid Systems) along with a solid project management history to oversee the preparation, planning, and execution of HV substation projects.

Your key responsibilities will encompass:

  • Establishing plant-specific requirements for HV substations, including the development of single-line diagrams and layouts;
  • Identifying fundamental needs for transmission lines, transformer and bus bar control, protection equipment, and auxiliary power supply concepts;
  • Drafting technical guidelines for HV primary substation equipment and their interface connections;
  • Reviewing and approving HV equipment documentation;
  • Monitoring and ensuring quality during the installation of HV substations and their auxiliary systems;
  • Conducting quality control through participation in factory acceptance tests and on-site operational assessments for HV primary equipment;
  • Managing the complete technical implementation process, from preparing tender documents to contract awards and customer acceptance;
  • Collaborating closely with project managers to prepare reports, budget forecasts, and schedules, while participating in construction meetings and managing orders;
  • Ensuring adherence to technical customer requirements and compliance with relevant guidelines and safety regulations;
  • Conducting comparisons of technical and economic alternatives to support cost-intensive investment decisions.
Your Qualifications
  • A diploma or master's degree in electrical engineering;
  • Extensive experience with primary and secondary equipment for HV substations (up to kV) as a design engineer and project manager;
  • Comprehensive understanding of HV substation design, including primary, secondary, and auxiliary equipment;
  • Knowledge of HV/MV transformer and cable design, as well as control and optical fiber cables;
  • Basic experience in electrical network calculations and HV substation control and protection systems;
  • Ability to define the scope of work for greenfield HV substations and extension projects;
  • Experience in leading a team of engineers on complex HV substation and transmission line projects, both domestically and internationally;
  • Proven project management experience in HV substations and international project execution;
  • Experience managing projects financed by international development banks is advantageous;
  • A valid category B driving license;
  • Strong autonomy and flexibility, with proficiency in iTWO, SAP, and MS Office;
  • Fluency in English and German, with knowledge of additional languages (French, Dutch, Arabic) considered a plus.
