About the Cloud Engineering Team
The Cloud Engineering team serves as the backbone of the tech department at applike group. This team is tasked with managing the essential infrastructure that enables our developers to deploy their software effectively and supports the overall growth of the company.
Utilizing a variety of AWS services, Kubernetes, and open-source projects from the Apache foundation, the team continuously evaluates new cloud services and architectural solutions to efficiently manage vast amounts of data. Cloud Engineering faces the challenge of determining the optimal balance between self-managed and managed services to minimize monthly hosting expenses while ensuring convenience and data security for our developers.
To guarantee high-quality service and minimal downtime, Cloud Engineering invests significantly in monitoring and alerting technologies to gain insights into system health, including networking, application logs, cloud service information, and hardware status. The cloud engineers also provide practical solutions, knowledge sharing, and documentation to the entire developer community, empowering them to manage the infrastructure independently and maintain the seamless operation of our systems.
Key Responsibilities- Collaborate with a team of experienced DevOps engineers to transform our cloud infrastructure by integrating new technologies and enhancing the existing environment.
- Assist in transitioning our current managed AWS cloud infrastructure to self-hosted and open-source technologies, as we believe a hybrid approach offers the best cost-efficiency balance.
- Support developers in creating a high-performance backend using Go, based on our existing backend structures distributed across multiple global data centers.
- Engage with experts from diverse technological backgrounds and regions, learning from seasoned colleagues while sharing your expertise.
- Work with our current technology stack, including Go, DruidDB, Kafka, DynamoDB, ScyllaDB, RDS, Kubernetes, Terraform, GitLab, ECS, EMR, Lambda, complex CI/CD pipelines, Prometheus, and data pipelines.
- Introduce new technologies, including migrating parts of the architecture to our new Kubernetes and Kafka clusters, as well as implementing Apache Spark/Flink and our own hosted object storage.
- Troubleshoot issues in complex systems, perform root cause analysis, and implement effective solutions.
- Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior team members, fostering their professional development.
- Proven experience as a DevOps engineer, SRE, or Platform engineer with a strong passion for enhancing scalability and cloud infrastructure, along with a keen interest in programming languages such as Golang, Rust, or Python.
- In-depth knowledge of Kubernetes and ECS.
- Strong understanding of the AWS ecosystem and infrastructure as code using Terraform.
- Familiarity with microservice architecture and communication methods between microservices (e.g., Topics, Queues, Object storage).
- Extensive experience with CI/CD tools and maintaining pipelines.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to address complex technical challenges.
- Self-motivated and eager to learn new technologies and tools.
