Hannover, Niedersachsen, Deutschland Medizinische Hochschule Hannover Vollzeit
Position Overview

The Hannover Medical School (MHH) is seeking a Lead Research Scientist specializing in Pediatric Immunology (f/d/m). As one of the largest institutions in Lower Saxony, MHH is dedicated to advancing research and education in human and dental medicine, alongside its role as a university hospital.

Your Responsibilities

In this pivotal role, you will lead a scientific working group, bridging the gap between group leadership, scientific researchers, medical professionals, and technical staff. Your responsibilities will encompass:

  • Conducting innovative research and contributing creatively to group projects.
  • Assisting in the preparation of manuscripts and grant applications.
  • Managing projects and facilitating communication with collaborative partners.
  • Supporting the onboarding and offboarding processes for institute staff.

You will also collaborate closely with the clinical director to liaise with laboratories, funding organizations, and regulatory bodies.

Research Focus

The laboratory's primary research interest lies in understanding early life immune regulation, particularly in relation to allergens and infections. Our objectives include:

  1. Enhancing the understanding of early immune mechanisms that impact long-term health and disease.
  2. Investigating immune responses related to allergies and tolerance, translating findings into preventive and therapeutic strategies.
  3. Gaining insights into immune mechanisms responding to infections, especially RSV, to inform risk assessment and vaccination strategies.

Our research group plays a significant role in regional, national, and international collaborations, including partnerships with the German Center for Lung Diseases (DZL) and the Excellence Cluster RESIST.

Candidate Profile

We are looking for candidates who have:

  • A completed university degree in biology, medicine, or a related field.
  • A PhD in immunology, allergology, infectiology, pneumology, or a related discipline.
  • Extensive research experience with a strong immunological foundation and technical skills.
  • Proficient oral and written communication skills in both German and English.
  • A proven track record in publication and grant application.
  • Excellent organizational and communication abilities, with a collaborative spirit.
What We Offer

This full-time position (38.5 hours per week) is initially limited, providing an opportunity to work with one of the largest employers in Lower Saxony. We offer:

  • Competitive remuneration in accordance with public sector standards.
  • Flexible working arrangements, including options for remote work.
  • Opportunities for personal and professional development through various training programs.
  • Excellent public transport connections and a job ticket for local transit.
  • A comprehensive range of health and wellness programs.

We are committed to fostering a family-friendly work environment and encourage applications from women and individuals with disabilities, who will be given preferential consideration if equally qualified.
