Job Description

We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced researcher to lead a junior research group in the field of landscape resilience at the University of Göttingen. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting research in this area, establishing a junior research group, publishing in international journals, and acquiring additional third-party funding.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct research in landscape resilience and support one of the core research foci of the University of Göttingen
  • Establish a junior research group with two early career scientist positions funded by the Eva Mayr-Stihl foundation
  • Publish in international journals and acquire additional third-party funding
  • Integrate the junior research group into currently ongoing interdisciplinary collaborative research initiatives
Requirements
  • Internationally experienced researcher with an excellent scientific record
  • PhD in a field relevant to research on landscape resilience, such as forest science, ecology, biodiversity, agricultural science, geology, social science, or economics
  • Excellent methodological knowledge in their particular field, such as modelling, remote sensing, ecophysiological methods, or socio-economic analyses
  • High interest and ideally experience in inter- and transdisciplinary work, proven by participation in interdisciplinary projects, publications, and/or outreach activities
  • Scientific creativity, shown by a track record of original and innovative research
  • Proficient in English, German is a plus
