Job Title: Translator/Interpreter

We are seeking a highly skilled Translator/Interpreter to join our team at U.S. Army Europe and Africa. As a Translator/Interpreter, you will be responsible for translating and interpreting a variety of materials and documents related to customs and tax laws, as well as providing language support for conferences and meetings.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Translate from German into English and vice versa, a variety of material and documents related to customs and tax laws.
  • Apply and develop glossary of technical terms.
  • Review and certify accuracy of translations.
  • Perform quality control reviews of customs/tax documents submitted to the Customs Digital Data Repository.
  • Request corrective actions, additional information and supporting documentation as necessary.
  • Perform administrative tasks such as memoranda and maintains official office records in accordance with Army in Europe regulations.
  • Serve as an interpreter at conferences and meetings held with German Government officials, US Forces, and Provost Marshal officials.
Requirements:
  • Completed apprenticeship in a commercial, business or administrative occupation or university or equivalent degree in a closely related field of study.
  • Translation/Interpreter Certificate issued by a recognized institution in the language required in the position.
  • English AND German Language Proficiency Level C2 required.
  • Office automation skills are required.
  • Driver's license class B required and must be able to obtain/maintain a US Government Motor Vehicle Operator's license.
  • Initial training and certification by both the Customs Executive Agency, and the U.S Department of Agriculture as a Senior Customs Border Clearance Agent (SCBCA) is required at entrance or within 1 year.
