Your Responsibilities
As a Process Safety Engineer, you will be an integral part of our global Chemical Safety Management (CSM) Team, tasked with ensuring adherence to our Process Safety Management (PSM) policies and regulatory standards. Your role encompasses:
- Overseeing and executing all facets of the Symrise PSM program tailored to specific site requirements.
- Organizing, leading, and documenting Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) and HAZOP evaluations for both new and existing operations.
- Conducting Layer of Protection Analysis (LOPA) to assess whether incident scenario risks align with company standards.
- Coordinating internal and external compliance review audits.
- Designing and delivering process safety training while ensuring compliance with training mandates.
- Evaluating proposed projects and process modifications to identify and communicate any PSM implications.
- Reporting on process safety incidents to management, spearheading investigations, and coordinating corrective action development.
- Supervising the Management of Change (MOC) and Pre-Start-up Safety Review (PSSR) processes.
- Regularly reviewing documentation to ensure compliance with Symrise's process safety protocols, including written procedures and action item closures.
Your Profile
- A degree in chemical engineering, process engineering, chemistry, or a related technical field.
- 3-5 years of relevant experience in process safety, production, or plant planning.
- Proficient in both written and spoken German, with good command of English.
- Strong ability to cultivate business relationships across functional teams and lead projects effectively.
- Demonstrated energy and commitment to excellence, with a proactive and adaptable approach.
- Exceptional organizational, analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities.
- Ability to work autonomously, manage multiple tasks, and meet deadlines.
- Proficient in computer skills, particularly with Microsoft Office applications.
- Willingness to undertake occasional international travel (approximately 10%) between global locations.
