Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Chief Accountant to join our team at Finow Rohrsysteme GmbH. As a key member of our finance department, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day accounting operations, ensuring compliance with German GAAP (HGB), and providing financial guidance to the management team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Financial Statement Preparation: Prepare and analyze financial statements and reports in compliance with German GAAP (HGB), ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Accounting Operations: Support the team in overseeing daily accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and payroll.
  • Financial Management: Manage the day-to-day operations of the accounting department, ensuring adherence to accounting principles and internal control procedures.
  • Account Reconciliations: Oversee and perform account reconciliations to ensure all financial records are accurate and complete.
  • Closing Processes: Ensure timely and accurate month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes.
  • Audit and Compliance: Manage audits and liaise with external auditors and tax advisors to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Internal Controls: Implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure financial data integrity.
  • Accounting Policies: Assist in developing and maintaining accounting policies and procedures.
  • Staff Supervision: Train, supervise, and mentor accounting staff to ensure they have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their duties effectively.
  • Professional Development: Stay updated on changes in accounting regulations and standards, and implement enhancements in accounting processes and the control and risk environment.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Professional Certification: Professional accounting certification (e.g., CPA, ACCA, Steuerberater) is highly preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5-7 years of progressive accounting experience, including supervisory roles.
  • German GAAP: In-depth knowledge of German GAAP (HGB).
  • ERP Systems: Experience with ERP systems (e.g., MS Dynamics 365) and advanced proficiency in MS Excel.
  • Language Skills: Proficiency in German and English at an intermediate or higher level (B2-C1).
  • Soft Skills: Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Industry Knowledge: Experience in the manufacturing industry, with knowledge of tax regulations in Germany.
  • Financial Software: Experience with financial software and reporting tools.
