Operational Risk Management Specialist

About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Operational Risk Management Specialist to join our team at Barclays Consumer Bank Europe. As a key member of our risk management team, you will play a critical role in identifying, assessing, and mitigating operational risks that could impact our business.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate and timely procure and distribute information to internal and external stakeholders related to external audits and reviews.
- Connect the right colleagues with auditors to ensure effective communication and collaboration.
- Support process owners, department heads of operational areas, and other stakeholders with solid risk and control expertise.
- Define controls within the robust control environment for all processes to minimize the risk to our customers and ourselves as a bank.
- Optimize our control landscape in terms of efficiency and effectiveness through regular reviews, focusing on a higher degree of automation.
- Assess existing controls for effectiveness and proper implementation, and identify automation opportunities and gaps in the control landscape.
- Properly assess risk incidents and resulting issue and action management in accordance with our policies and standards.
- Conduct analyses of potential and already occurred risk incidents.
- As a Subject Matter Expert in change programs and projects, ensure that risks are identified and addressed early, and resulting controls are considered and implemented/revised as a regular part of any change.
- Continuously report control and quality results to internal and external stakeholders.
Requirements
- Basic understanding and knowledge of control and risk topics such as the Three Lines of Defense.
- Excellent self-organisation skills and ability to articulate clear priorities.
- High quality standards for independent and structured work.
- Strong commitment to quality and service orientation, with motivation to independently acquire new knowledge.
- Strong ability to analyze results and develop action plans.
- Competencies in quality and project management (e.g. problem solving, process- and stakeholder management).
- Strong team player with high level of responsibility and assertiveness.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, confident in dealing with various internal stakeholder groups.
- Proficient in MS Office.
- Good German (B1) and fluent English skills (B2-C1).
