Director of Information Technology

We are seeking a highly qualified individual to take on the role of Director of Information Technology.

This is a permanent, full-time position, with the possibility of part-time arrangements. Compensation will align with the public service pay scale, potentially reaching salary group 15 (TVöD-Bund), along with the possibility of a recruitment bonus based on specific criteria.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage all aspects of IT operations at the organization.
  • Lead and mentor a team of up to 15 professionals, fostering their professional development.
  • Collaborate with scientific departments to design and implement hardware and software solutions related to Data Acquisition, Automated Laboratories, AI-Driven Research, and FAIR Scientific Data.
  • Install, maintain, and enhance specialized applications and hardware for both research and administrative functions.
  • Actively shape and coordinate IT processes and strategies in close collaboration with the organization's leadership.
  • Develop and execute IT governance frameworks.

Our Expectations

  • A completed university degree (diploma or master's) in computer science, mathematics, natural sciences, engineering, or equivalent qualifications and experience.
  • Several years of relevant professional experience in scientific IT, with a focus on leadership roles within academic or industrial settings.
  • Proven experience in managing fundamental IT infrastructure services.
  • Familiarity with federated services and their integration into local systems.
  • Excellent proficiency in both German and English.
  • A strong commitment to service orientation, teamwork, and collaboration.
