Established in collaboration with the University Medical Center Mannheim and the Medical Faculty Mannheim of Heidelberg University, the DKFZ Hector Cancer Institute aims to conduct exceptional translational research in precision oncology, cancer prevention, early detection, and survivorship.
The newly formed division, Policy and Implementation Research for Cancer Prevention, focuses on bridging the gap between research evidence and practical policy applications in cancer prevention.
Your ResponsibilitiesThe selected candidate will spearhead the implementation and analysis of a study investigating the geographical distribution of tobacco and alcohol outlets across Germany. Responsibilities include publishing research findings in reputable journals, engaging in innovative methods for knowledge dissemination to key stakeholders, and contributing to grant applications. Opportunities to collaborate on additional policy and implementation research projects within the division will also be available. This position offers a unique chance to work alongside experts in cancer prevention, policymakers, and community stakeholders.
Your QualificationsApplicants should possess both a Master’s degree and a PhD in public health, social sciences, or a related discipline. Demonstrated experience in utilizing GIS for health research, along with proficiency in GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS) and statistical analysis tools, is essential. A strong interest in policy and implementation research, coupled with a commitment to bridging the evidence-policy divide, is highly desirable. Some travel may be necessary for data collection purposes. Excellent communication and organizational skills, along with proficiency in English, are required. Knowledge of German is advantageous but not mandatory.
