Military Aircraft Maintenance Technician

Key Responsibilities
(Typical duties may include the following, although specific responsibilities can vary based on assignment or contract.)
- Execute comprehensive maintenance on military tactical aircraft, specializing in UH-60, CH-47, or AH-64 systems, including repair tasks such as assembly and modification of various Army and other DoD cross-service aircraft, along with their major assemblies, sub-assemblies, components, and associated systems.
- Install, connect, and calibrate complete systems including fuel, heat, lubrication, hydraulic, engine, and transmission systems; align fuselage components; balance, align, and install tail rotor assemblies; rig entire flight control systems.
- Implement authorized modifications and alterations.
- Conduct operational checks of hydraulic and fuel systems utilizing external power sources and powered ground equipment.
- Inspect and diagnose to identify the cause of malfunctions; disassemble to the point of failure; adjust, repair, realign, or replace defective components or assemblies.
- Proficiently utilize a variety of common hand tools and measuring devices such as gauges, torque wrenches, and scales, as well as test, measurement, and diagnostic equipment specific to aircraft models.
- Assess when faulty systems or assemblies can be rectified through repair or the replacement of new parts, determining the nature and extent of necessary repairs.
- Demonstrate skill in reading, applying, and interpreting technical documentation.
- Oversee the work of junior mechanics in the complete assembly, modification, and checkout of the entire aircraft, coordinating with related trades such as general mechanics and sheet metal to ensure the proper sequence of the complete aircraft assembly process.
- Prepare documentation and records related to aircraft maintenance.
- Perform additional duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
- A minimum of five (5) years of relevant aircraft maintenance experience is required.
- Licensure: FAA A&P or FCC (Elements 1 and 3) is required.
- A valid FAA A&P with at least two (2) years of aviation maintenance experience, including two (2) years on the assigned MDS (UH-60, CH-47, or AH-64) is required.
- All experience must be within the last five (5) years.
- If no A&P, must possess an FCC License with Elements 1 and 3 and three (3) years of aviation maintenance experience, including three (3) years of rotary wing aircraft experience and two (2) years on the assigned UH-60A, CH-47, or AH-64 Mission Design Series (MDS).
- If no FCC License, discuss with Recruiter your willingness to obtain.
- A valid US Passport is required for travel.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization (NAC-I T1) Public Trust. US Citizenship is required for facility credentials/authorization at the work location.
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong communication skills; adaptable, versatile, and capable of troubleshooting entire aircraft systems.
- Working knowledge of electrical, electronic, mechanical, and associated systems principles to competently complete all probable work tasks.
- Understanding of Quality Control, Production, and Supply procedures necessary to perform job assignments.
- Able to determine when faulty systems or assemblies can be corrected through repair or replacement of new parts and the nature and extent of repair required.
- Proficient in reading, applying, and interpreting technical data.
Physical Requirements/Working Environment
- Must be able to climb, stand, stoop, bend, stretch, crouch, and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions.
- Frequently lift parts and equipment weighing up to 20 pounds.
- Occasionally lift objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Must be immediately deployable to potential combat areas worldwide.
