Infotainment Software Development Lead

BMW Car IT, a wholly owned subsidiary of BMW AG, is dedicated to pushing the boundaries of automotive software development. We design and implement embedded software for electronic control units in BMW vehicles, as well as related tools and frameworks. Our mission is to lead BMW into the future of digitalization and mobility by delivering innovative software solutions from concept to production.

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Infotainment Software Development Lead to join our dynamic team in Ulm. In this role, you will play a pivotal part in shaping the next generation of BMW infotainment systems.

Your Responsibilities:
  • Lead and guide software development teams within sub-organizations, ensuring successful delivery of the BMW software platform for the upcoming infotainment system.
  • Collaborate as a core member of the software management team, responsible for setting targets, milestones, and time schedules.
  • Drive the planning and tracking of backlog items with a strong commitment to achieving project goals.
  • Review and approve software deliveries, ensuring compliance with requirements and adherence to established milestones.
  • Empower and mentor multiple domain leads to deliver sub-domain features and components according to all specifications.
  • Effectively manage changes in requirements and priorities, adapting development strategies as needed.
  • Provide regular progress reports on key performance indicators and objectives to the head unit project management team.
Your Qualifications:
  • A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or a related field of study.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in program, technology, or software project management within the automotive industry.
  • Proven success in implementing agile practices within software organizations and a track record of effectively planning, organizing, and executing projects through others.
  • Extensive experience leading large, geographically dispersed software development teams.
  • Strong understanding of different software domains on Linux systems, particularly in the context of embedded devices.
  • Experience delivering products that incorporate open-source components is highly desirable.
  • A willingness to make decisive decisions regarding software development scope and priorities.
