This role is located in the 'Antibody Development' subchapter, which belongs to the 'Reagent Research & Design' department within Roche Diagnostics.
We aim to improve global health by designing and developing high-quality novel reagents and diagnostics solutions. We rely on the scientific excellence and innovative solutions of our team members and foster a culture of trust, empowerment, and cross-functional collaboration.
About the Team
We develop antibodies for various platforms of Roche Diagnostics. You will work equally in the groups of 'Antibody Development' and 'Antibody Molecular Biology' that are responsible for generating diagnostic antibodies.
After a thorough introduction to the techniques and tools for antibody generation, sequencing, and recloning, you will work on current projects in the field of personalized healthcare or other exciting projects in the fields of infectious diseases, fertility, oncology, or cardiovascular diseases.
About the Role
- Develop diagnostic antibodies using classical hybridoma or B cell PCR technologies
- Isolate B cells and cultivate them
- Perform single-cell sorting of B cell-specific populations
- Screen for target-specific antibodies
- Isolate RNA from B cell lysates and synthesize cDNA
- Perform RT-PCR of IgG heavy chain and light chain coding sequences and clone them into suitable expression vectors
- Transform E. coli, prepare constructs, and work on research projects to support antibody development optimization
- Plan and execute experiments independently
- Document and present results
About the Ideal Candidate
- Master's degree in Biology, Immunology, Biotechnology, or a comparable field
- Knowledge and hands-on experience with basic immunology and cell biology techniques (cell culture, FACS, ELISA)
- Experience with molecular biological methods (RT-PCR, cloning) and knowledge of respective analytical methods
- Interest in laboratory automation
- Curious and open to new ideas
- Not afraid to think outside the box
- Excellent English skills, with German knowledge being an advantage
- Engagement, strong self-reliance, and organizational skills, with a passion for working in a team
