About the Role

The Commercial Analysis department at RWE Supply & Trading GmbH is seeking a highly skilled Auction Analysis Expert to join their team. As a key member of the Auction team, you will be responsible for providing detailed commercial insights and analytical support to RWE's businesses across the globe.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the development of bidding strategies by analyzing auction mechanisms with a focus on game theory elements and optimal bidding behavior.
  • Provide assessments and recommendations on auction mechanisms for regulatory interactions and effects on RWE projects and bidding behavior.
  • Drive RWE's auction analysis tools and frameworks, ensuring consistency and delivering bid strategy support for all of RWE's technologies and markets.
  • Develop and implement statistical metrics to measure and improve auction forecast quality.
  • Support the strategy departments by assessing the attractiveness of different markets and auction regimes.

Requirements

  • Degree in an analytical or numerical subject, preferably in Economics, Finance, Engineering, Statistics, or Mathematics.
  • Distinct knowledge of game theory and/or experience in auction processes.
  • Professional experience in the energy sector, auction modeling, or related industry.
  • Distinct ability to analyze and structure complex topics to present comprehensible solutions to a wide range of stakeholders, including adequate communication to a (senior) management-level audience (both written and verbal).
  • Good programming skills and/or strong Microsoft Excel knowledge, ability to use functionalities at an expert level and/or implement numerical models or data processing routines in, for example, Python.
  • The ability to communicate clearly and manage a good relationship with business partners or other external stakeholders.
  • Entrepreneurial spirit: highly proactive, identifying value opportunities and proposing solutions to them under own initiative.
  • Enthusiastic about learning and pushing technical limits and finding new solutions/out of the box thinking.
