About the Cloud Engineering Team
The Cloud Engineering team serves as the backbone of the tech department at applike group. This team is responsible for the foundational infrastructure that enables our developers to efficiently run their software and supports the growth of our business.
Utilizing a variety of AWS services, Kubernetes, and open-source projects from the Apache foundation, the team consistently evaluates new cloud and architectural services to effectively manage substantial data volumes. Cloud Engineering faces the challenge of determining the optimal balance between self-managed and managed services to minimize hosting expenses while ensuring convenience and data security for our developers.
To maintain high-quality service and minimize downtime, Cloud Engineering invests significantly in monitoring and alerting technologies that provide insights into system health, including networking, application logs, cloud service data, and hardware status. The cloud engineers also deliver practical solutions, knowledge, and documentation to the entire developer community, empowering them to manage the infrastructure independently and ensure the seamless operation of our systems.
Key Responsibilities- Collaborate with a team of seasoned DevOps engineers to transform our cloud infrastructure by integrating new technologies and enhancing the existing environment.
- Assist in transitioning our current managed AWS cloud infrastructure to self-hosted and open-source technologies, as we believe that a hybrid approach offers the best cost-efficiency balance.
- Support developers in constructing a high-performance backend using Go, based on our existing backend structures distributed across multiple global data centers.
- Engage with experts from diverse technological backgrounds and regions, learn from experienced colleagues, and share your expertise.
- Work with our current technology stack, including Go, DruidDB, Kafka, DynamoDB, ScyllaDB, RDS, Kubernetes, Terraform, Gitlab, ECS, EMR, Lambda, complex CI/CD pipelines, Prometheus, data pipelines, and more.
- Introduce new technologies, including migrating parts of the architecture to our new Kubernetes and Kafka clusters, and implementing Apache Spark/Flink along with our own hosted object storage.
- Troubleshoot issues in complex systems, perform root cause analysis, and implement effective solutions.
- Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior team members, fostering their professional development.
- Proficient DevOps engineer/SRE/Platform engineer with a strong enthusiasm for enhancing scalability and cloud infrastructure, and a keen interest in programming languages such as Golang, Rust, Python, etc.
- In-depth knowledge of Kubernetes and ECS.
- Thorough understanding of the AWS ecosystem and infrastructure as code using Terraform.
- Solid grasp of microservice architecture and communication between microservices (e.g., Topics, Queues, Object storage, etc.).
- Extensive experience with CI/CD tools and maintaining pipelines.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to address complex technical challenges.
- Self-driven and eager to learn new technologies and tools.
